..now, by all standards. if you are the fun loving, uncomplicated, unselfish, easy going, trustworthy, happy, relaxed, person i suspect you are. Mombasa Backpackers is the one and only place for you to thrive. like i did!

I felt I needed to write this review to warn people what the staff should warn you BUT DON'T. There have been a number of muggings at knifepoint inside Mombassa backpackers hostel recently.
After my friend and I were mugged inside the hostel the manager took us aside and told us about the other muggings that had taken place in the same week. Please be very very careful in this area.
He then said he should have warned us. I asked him to put up signs in the hostel but also felt it would be a good idea to warn people here on Trip Advisor.

The hostel itself not the best, dorms a bit stuffy and smelly and bathrooms very dirty. I just stress that the area is not safe. do not stay here.

Stayed August 2011, traveled with a group, had a bad experience
