Homey & Helpful ... As a 40 something with mobility limitations traveling on my own for the first time in many years this was a wonderful spot to rest for a couple of days. The staff were very helpful both with helping me manage the stairs and in directing my adventures in town ...

Description - Hostel

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: We are committed to the fight against the spread of the Coronavirus!

We know being away from home as a traveler right now can be stressful. We would be happy to host you with your “home away from home”. If you need a social no-party hostel to stay and “weather the storm” please consider our small traveler community.

We have modified our procedures to keep our housemates and guests as safe and virus free as possible. We are asking all guests to remain inside as much as possible to avoid bringing the virus into our home. If guests do leave the hostel they must agree to social distance from others on the street and promise they will not go to parties, clubs, restaurants, and other areas with gatherings of people. When guests return to the hostel, we require them to hand sanitize immediately after the first door of the hostel.

Our staff is obsessively cleaning all high-touch surfaces in our hostel and we encourage you to participate in our virus prevention measures. We have a cleaning station for you to clean your cell phone, laptop, keys, wallet etc. We are limiting our occupancy to 50% and asking that all guests exercise social distancing as much as possible in the hostel. We have movie nights and even non-contact games. Of course we have free wi-fi so you can stay in touch with loved ones at home.

We still have free peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and free ramen so you will not have to go outside to food shop if you don’t want to.

We have an isolation plan in place in case someone gets sick in the hostel.

If you are currently free of symptoms, and willing to exercise social responsibility with a friendly community of wayward travelers we would be happy to welcome you.

Be safe!

We are a small, friendly and social hostel that feels more like a family than just a cheap place to stay. Because we are small, we say "There are no strangers here, only friends you haven't met!"

From the moment you step inside, you'll see what we mean. For adventurous and open-minded travelers, we are a San Francisco experience you won't want to miss. We also have an updated social calendar for every day of the week to encourage our staff and guests to spend time together and enjoy the beautiful city of San Francisco.

We offer more free stuff than you'll ever find in any other hostel, including free coffee, tea, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, ramen, towels, and sock wash! We hope to see you soon!

Booking and cancellation policy

Unless otherwise specified, booking payments are non-refundable.

We have a 48-hour cancellation policy. However, we will not charge for late cancellations if we are able to sell the canceled beds to other travelers. If a guest cancels less than 48 hours before midnight on their arrival date, they will be charged for the first night of their reservation.

Guests who have canceled their reservation less than 48 hours before the arrival date may ask the manager about a cancellation policy exception the day after the reservation arrival date.

No-shows without communication from the guest are charged a minimum charge for the first night for each guest in the reservation. No-communication no-shows are charged a maximum of two nights if the reservation was for more than two nights.

We are a small hostel with limited staff, so we CANNOT provide regular check-in after midnight! We know flights get delayed and all sorts of things can happen when you are traveling. If you are arriving in the later afternoon or evening, consider a hostel with 24 hour reception for the night of your arrival. If you realize you will be arriving later than midnight, please contact us by telephone by 5 PM to see if we have someone to let you in after midnight for a $15 late check-in fee. Thank you for understanding!!

How to get there

SFO airport is located 14 miles south of San Francisco, so once your flight arrives you'll still have the last little leg of your journey to complete. The San Francisco Airport is modern and easy to navigate, so you shouldn't have any problems getting where you need to be. It's served by a variety of forms of public transportation so it's up to you (and your budget!) how you'd like to get to the city - and to us! Perhaps the easiest way is to take the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) subway directly from the airport. You can also hire a shared door to door shuttle service.
